Our mission is to advance the art of musical theatre by supporting, developing, and producing new works from promising musical theatre writers at all stages of their careers, thus enriching the cultural and educational landscape for diverse audiences.

Richard Ford

Founding Artistic Director of The New Musicals Collective.

Richard Ford is a Houston-based composer, lyricist, and playwright whose musicals have been developed and produced from New York City to Chicago to Houston. His works include That Him (Samuel Beckett Theatre, NYC), A Lovely Leave (Harold Clurman Theatre, NYC), Waiting for the Sunrise (Athenaeum Theatre, Chicago), The Prisoner (Ovations, Houston), Rockstar Widow (Frank Theatre, Houston, 2023), The Boy in the Boat (online, 2020), and the forthcoming Sid! Make Me One with Everything. He is currently developing The Myth of the Modern Dad, a commissioned work. The recipient of eleven ASCAP Plus Awards and five Houston Arts Alliance Individual Artist Grants, Ford is also the Founding Artistic Director of The New Musicals Collective, a Houston-based 501(c)(3) dedicated to supporting new musical theatre writers and their work. He is the author of Write Songs You Love Now (2023 Amazon bestseller), a member of ASCAP and the Dramatists Guild, a BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop alumnus, and holds an MFA in Music Composition from the University of Chichester (UK).
